Amanda Webster Head Athletic Trainer (203) 576-4984 Amanda Webster has served as UB’s Head Athletic Trainer since July 2023. She oversees healthcare for UB’s 300 student-athletes as well as manages the sports medicine team and provides care for six athletic teams: volleyball, women’s soccer, men’s basketball, gymnastics, baseball and women’s lacrosse, while also serving as a clinical preceptor. Prior to UB, Webster was the Associate Athletic Trainer at Post University where she served the Football, Women’s Ice Hockey and both men’s and women’s tennis teams. Her previous experience also includes being the Head Athletic Trainer for Fisk University, Head Athletic Trainer at Lehman College, Head Athletic Trainer at Sacred Heart University Club Sports Program, Upper Merion Area School District, US soccer, USA Triathlon, USA Cycling, USA Gymnastics, the Danbury Whalers, USA Fencing, American College Cricket, and the Steadman Hawkins Clinic. Webster is a 2008 graduate of Southern Connecticut State University’s Athletic Training program where she was a Student-Athletic Trainer for the 2007 National Champion women’s basketball team. Her professional service opportunities include being a member of the BOC practice analysis pilot study. In 2009, she was awarded a grant by the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s for expanding public knowledge and awareness of Traumatic Brain Injuries. Her undergraduate research on Hypermobility Syndromes in Division II Collegiate Female Gymnasts was presented at the Connecticut Athletic Trainers Symposium. As a former Level 10 gymnast and 2-year member of SCSU’s Track and Field team, Amanda’s personal experience with sports-related injuries led to her career in sports medicine. She is currently working towards her MBA in Healthcare Systems Leadership. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering for the special Olympics and local animal rescues as well as traveling with her husband, Ben. |
Jordan Thurman Assistant Athletic Trainer (203) 576-4798 Jordan Thurman was hired as UB’s Assistant Athletic Trainer in August 2022. She came to Bridgeport after serving as the Head Athletic Trainer at nearby Fairfield Warde High School for seven years. Thurman was a jack of all trades during her time at Fairfield Warde. She cared for and evaluated orthopedic and general medical pathologies for over 35 different sports. She also educated athletes on prevention for common orthopedic injuries and established unique dynamic warm-up routines for individual teams. In addition to her professional experience, Thurman also owns several certifications. She is First Aid/CPR/AED certified, BOC certified and a member of NATA. Thurman is also certified in cupping therapy. Academically, Thurman earned a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Hofstra University in 2015. As an AT student, she assisted Certified Athletic Trainers with care and prevention of injuries, aided during emergency medical situations, and developed rehabilitation protocols and daily treatments. |
Corinne Sadinsky Assistant Athletic Trainer csadinsky@bridgeport.edu Corinne Sadinsky has served as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at the University of Bridgeport since August 2024. She graduated from Southern Connecticut State University in the Spring of 2024. Corinne will be working with Bridgeport’s volleyball, women's basketball and softball teams. Prior to UB, Corinne completed clinical rotations at Yale University, Albertus Magnus College, Hamden Hall, and Ronai Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine. During each clinical rotation, she had the chance to work hands on with different athletic teams, learning how to treat sport-specific injuries, and returning the athletes to participation in their sport. Corinne has also worked as a personal trainer for the past two years. She has a love for weightlifting and incorporating strength training into her athletes’ care plans. Over the last three years, Corinne has competed in four different powerlifting competitions where she has won for her age and weight class in each one. She spends most of her time at the gym where she trains her clients and completes her own workouts. When Corinne is not at the gym, she is often taking her husky for walks/hikes as well as reading. Corinne hopes to have a positive impact on all the athletes she works with. She wants to help them in improving their sports abilities, gain confidence in themselves as an individual and as an athlete, and foster a safe space for her athletes to come to her when they need help with anything.
Brooke Venkitachalam Assistant Athletic Trainer bvenki@bridgeport.edu Brooke Venkitachalam has served as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at UB since August 2024. She provides care for Bridgeport’s women’s soccer, gymnastics, and women’s lacrosse teams. Venkitachalam is a 2024 graduate of Quinnipiac University’s Athletic Training Program, where she was a student athletic trainer for the cross country, softball, and men’s lacrosse teams. She was also an athletic training student for Yale University Gymnastics, University of Colorado at Boulder Football, and Cheshire Academy (CT) Athletics. Venkitachalam’s professional service also includes two years served on the National Athletic Trainer’s Association (NATA) Student Leadership Committee as the District 1 Representative, where she served as the liaison between athletic training students of New England and the NATA, as well as planning student-focused programming to offer at national athletic training conventions. Born and raised in Massachusetts, Venkitachalam is now a resident of Wallingford, Conn. She spends her free time hiking, reading, and trying out new restaurants and farmer’s markets in Connecticut. Don Bagnall Part-time Assistant Athletic Trainer (203) 576-4798 Don Bagnall is a part-time athletic trainer for the University of Bridgeport. He began working at UB in the fall of 2023. In addition to his UB duties, Don also provides Per Diem athletic training services to other private/public secondary schools and college/universities. In August 2024, he retired from the role of Director of Sports Medicine at The Hopkins School in New Haven Connecticut after 41 years of service. |

Orthopaedic Specialty Group is the largest and most experienced orthopaedic practice in Southern Connecticut. Our physicians’ wide range of expertise provides complete care in all areas of treatment including advanced surgical and nonsurgical techniques, pain management and rehabilitation.They have several locations throughout the southern Connecticut area and also provide on-campus assessments on a weekly basis throughout the academic year. Daniel Weiland, MD Dr. Weiland, a Fairfield County resident, has been practicing orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine since 2006. He began his career at Orthopaedic Sports & Medicine Center and joined Orthopaedic Specialty Group in 2017. Dr. Weiland’s specialties predominately include arthroscopic surgeries, shoulders, knee and hips. Over the past 10 years, he has worked closely with University of Bridgeport athletes as the head team physician. He covers a vast range of sports injuries for all ages. In his spare time, Dr. Weiland enjoys spending time with his family, participating in triathlons, skiing and other physical fitness related activities.
