BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – In the first of two home games this week, the University of Bridgeport's men's soccer team registered a 3-1 win over Caldwell on Wednesday afternoon. The win improves the Purple Knights' overall record to 7-5-3, including a 6-2-1 mark in the CACC.
In a game that featured two teams that are now tied in the conference standings, sophomore Joao Miranda provided UB with a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute.
Ewen Le Cozic picked up the assist on the play after his cross into the middle of the box was one-timed into the back of the net by Miranda's left foot.
After Caldwell tied the contest in the 25th minute, it was Lucas Mah's first goal of the year that ended up being the game-winner. Mah put the finishing touches on a beautiful pass from Enzo Beatrix in the 38th minute.
Speaking of Beatrix, he padded UB's lead in the second half with a sensational free-kick goal from about 25 yards out. The Frenchman is now tied with Lapo Romieri for the team lead in points this season (15).
With the offense clicking, goalkeeper Gianny Provincial needed to make just three saves en route to his fifth win of the season. Provincial played the full 90 minutes for the 10th time in 2024.
