BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Facing one of their toughest non-conference opponents of the season, the University of Bridgeport's men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 contest to No. 22 SNHU on Wednesday afternoon. The loss shifts the Purple Knights' record to 4-3-2 overall.
Bridgeport enjoyed an ideal start against the nationally ranked Penmen. Lapo Romieri scored the opening goal less than two minutes into the contest.
Romieri is now tied with Enzo Beatrix for the team lead in goals this season with five.
Joao Miranda sparked the 1-0 lead with a nice dish to Romieri. He is now leading the CACC in assists with an impressive six.
UB's quick start was thwarted by a pair of SNHU goals. The Penmen tied the game in the 12th minute before notching the game-winner in the 70th.
Down 2-1, the Purple Knights had their chances over the final 20 minutes but were unable to find an equalizer. UB's defense, which allowed just five shots on goal, is now ranked third in the CACC in goals-against average (1.11).
