PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Fueled by a pair of goals from graduate student Enzo Beatrix, the University of Bridgeport's men's soccer team earned a 2-0 win at previously undefeated Jefferson (6-1-1, 2-1 CACC) on Saturday. The victory improves the Purple Knights' record to 4-2-2 this season, including 3-1 in the CACC.
Playing on a rain-soaked field, it was a beautiful build-up that led to Beatrix's first tally of the game—which came in the ninth minute.
Starting from the back, it eventually went Lapo Romieri crossing to a streaking Soren Larue whose shot was initially saved and then headed into the back of the net by Beatrix.
UB added to its lead just seconds into the second half with Joao Miranda creating the opportunity.
The sophomore swiped a defender in the Rams' box before delivering a perfect through-ball to Beatrix, who buried it into the bottom right corner of the goal.
Defensively, the Purple Knights tallied their third clean sheet of the season. Jefferson had entered the game having scored three or more goals in five of their wins this season.
Gianny Provincial earned the win in net for Bridgeport. The French goalkeeper tallied two saves across 90 minutes of scoreless action.
