Men's Soccer Strikes Late to Defeat AIC, 3-2

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Fueled by some late-game heroics, the University of Bridgeport's men's soccer team tallied a 3-2 win over AIC on Saturday night. The dramatic triumph pushes the Purple Knights' record to 1-1-2 so far this season.
Graduate student Enzo Beatrix served as the hero for UB with just seconds left in regulation (89th minute). The Frenchman utilized a perfect through-ball header from senior John Louis and slotted the game-winner into the right side of the net.
Beatrix also assisted on Bridgeport's first goal of the game in the 28th minute. Lapo Romieri scored that one, which gave UB a 1-0 lead.
The Purple Knights struck again before halftime as Jakob Reinhard put the home squad up 2-0 in the 37th minute. Reinhard intercepted a pass back to the keeper, faked the keeper and finished on an open net.
AIC's game-tying goals came in a flurry in the second half. The Yellow Jackets struck in the 67th and 72nd minutes to even the game at 2-2.
Offensively, the Purple Knights posted their best performance of the season. In addition to the three goals scored, UB put six other shots on net that were saved by the Yellow Jackets' goalie.
