BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Playing at home for the first time this season, the University of Bridgeport's men's soccer team posted a 1-1 tie against Southern Connecticut State on Sunday night. The draw puts UB's record at 0-1-1 after two contests this year.
Down 1-0 through nearly two-thirds of game time, the Purple Knights found the equalizer in the 59th minute. Graduate student Ewen Le Cozic tied the game at 1-1 with his first career collegiate goal.
Le Cozic's shot from inside the box was redirected off a SCSU defender before bouncing into the back of the net.
Sophomore Joao Miranda and junior Bruno Cakurs were credited for assists after Miranda's corner kick was redirected by Cakurs' shoulder directly to Le Cozic in the middle of the box.
The Owls' lone goal came in the 14th minute of the second half.
UB's Gianny Provincial, getting his first start in net, tallied three saves across a full 90 minutes.
As a team, Bridgeport has only allowed two goals in two games this season.
