RINDGE, N.H. – Facing one of their toughest tests of the season right off the bat, the University of Bridgeport's men's soccer team (0-1) dropped a 1-0 contest at No. 1 ranked Franklin Pierce (1-0) on Thursday night.
The Ravens, who have won each of the last two NCAA National Championships, extend their unbeaten streak to 50 straight games. FPU hasn't lost a game at home since 2018.
Sophomore goalkeeper Hugo Franceschi, who was named to the CACC's All-Conference Second Team in 2023, enjoyed the most statistical success for UB on Thursday. The Frenchman tallied four saves across a full 90 minutes of action.
Franceschi yielded just 25 goals across 18 contests and more than 1,500 minutes of work in 2023.
Franklin Pierce's goal came in the 12th minute of the game. Borja Blazquez slotted the game winner for FPU.
On the other side, UB put a pair of shots on goal as John Louis had two attempts stopped by Ravens' goalkeeper Karl Vernet.
Franklin Pierce controlled most of the offensive possession, finishing with a 10-0 advantage in corner-kick opportunities.
