Men's Soccer Cruises Past Caldwell, 6-0
Six Different Players Score Goals As Purple Knights Raise Season Mark To 3-1-0
Bridgeport, Conn.-Six different players scored goals as the University of Bridgeport men's soccer team netted three goals in each half, as the Purple Knights cruised to 6-0 home, non-conference win over the Caldwell College Cougars on a windy and wet Thursday evening. With the win, UB is now 3-1-0, and Caldwell drops to 3-2-0 on the season.
Junior Arnold Hitoaliaj (Tirana, Albania) opened the scoring for Bridgeport with goal off an assist from sophomore Danny Ruiz (Stamford, Conn.) at the 15:14 mark. Ruiz would assist again on his team's next tally less than two minutes later when junior Lee Middleton (Newcastle, England) netted his second goal of 2011.
In the 22nd minute, Danny would score a goal himself to complete the first half scoring off an assist from senior Devon Thomas (Malabar, Trinidad & Tobago).
In the second half, sophomore Andreas Blanke (Gothenburg, Sweden), freshman Juan Galarza (Danbury, Conn.) and junior Jonathan Aristizabal (Medellin, Colombia) found the back of the net for UB. Aristizabal and freshman Wagner Colodette (Bridgeport, Conn.) recorded assists in the final 45 minutes of play.
Junior Danny Hernandez (Bay Shore, N.Y.) and freshman Nick Tolman (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) shared the clean sheet for the Purple Knights.
Bridgeport is back in action on Saturday afternoon at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., as UB opens East Coast Conference play. Game time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
