Cross Country Teams Return to Action at Bruce Kirsh Cup
UB men finish 12th, women place 15th.
HOPKINTON, N.H. - Following a couple of weekends off, the University of Bridgeport's men's and women's cross country teams returned to action on Friday at the 12th Annual Bruce Kirsh Cup in Hopkinton, N.H.
Men's Recap | 8K (13th Place, 345 pts)
In similar fashion to UB's previous three meets, it was freshman Edoardo Vandelli leading the way. The Italy native tallied a 51st-place effort, rounding the course in a season-best time of 27:28.88.
Sophomore Matt Torres followed Vandelli for a fourth straight time this year, finishing in 98th with a season-low mark of 32:11.89.
Kyle Hill, Denzel Luna and Hector Juarez rounded out Bridgeport's scoring on Friday. Hill recorded a time of 36:49.52 (117th place) while Luna followed in 36:50.85 (118th place) and Juarez clocked in at 44:04.30 (121st place).
Women's Recap | 6K (15th Place, 407 pts)
Like the UB men, it was a freshman piloting the Bridgeport women. Stephanie Lickteig clocked in at 29:48.65 to finish in a team-best 92nd place.
Julia Fortune followed Lickteig closely, posting a 96th-place effort in a time of 30:02.93.
Lynzie Lawton served as the Purple Knights' third scorer with a 113th-place finish (34:34.28) while Aubrey Cindia came in 119th (38:59.66). Samantha Rodriguez capped off UB's attack with a time of 40:43.00 to place 123rd.
