Fresh Faces Highlight Cross Country's Season Debut at Adelphi Invite
Freshman Edoardo Vandelli led the way with an 18th-place finish.
BETHPAGE, N.Y. – Making their season debuts on a beautiful day in Long Island, the University of Bridgeport's cross country teams competed at the Adelphi Panther Invite on Friday.
In a familiar season-opening meet, it was a freshman leading the way for UB in his first collegiate race. Edoardo Vandelli, a native of Italy, tallied an 18th-place finish in a time of 27:43.10.
After the rookie, there were four more Purple Knight newcomers crossing the finish line. Sophomore Matt Torres posted a time of 32:53.10 (63rd place) while Kyle Hill registered a mark of 37:25.50 (90th place).
The final two men's scorers were Denzel Luna and Antoine Holmes, who raced to respective times of 39:20.90 (97th place) and 40:02.70 (99th place).
On the women's side, freshman Stephanie Lickteig made her collegiate debut with a time of 24:23.50 to finish in 46th place.
