Volleyball Rolls Wilmington for Sixth Straight Win
Purple Knights haven't dropped a set since Oct. 26th.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Beginning a stretch of three home matches ahead of the conference playoffs, the University of Bridgeport's volleyball team earned a 3-0 (25-17, 25-8, 25-16) victory over Wilmington on Saturday afternoon. The Purple Knights' win, their sixth in a row, improves their record to 18-9 overall this season and 11-3 in the CACC.
Bridgeport, which has now earned four sweeps in a row, has won a total of 13 consecutive sets. In fact, UB hasn't dropped a game since Oct. 26th.
On a day of terrific efforts all around Bridgeport, Hailey Jessen was particularly dominant for the home squad on Saturday.
The sophomore hit a team-best .538 en route to piling up a team-high 16 kills. It is her seventh match this season with at least 15 putaways.
Paola Hernandez, who leads the CACC in kills per set (3.60) this season, added 10 more against the Wildcats. She has now reached double-figure putaways in 19 matches this season.
Speaking of CACC leaders, Jaden Drollinger raised her average with another 35 assists on Saturday. She continues to be tops in the league in helpers at an even 10.0 per frame this season.
Drollinger's six kills against Wilmington were also a team best, joining Kenyce Johnson and Ella Bowman who also reached that mark.
The Purple Knights' .365 hitting percentage as a team on Saturday is their second highest clip this season. UB has now surpassed .300 on six occasions, including three in a row.
Bridgeport also racked up 11 aces in the match. After registering 31 in their last two matches, the Purple Knights are now first in the CACC in total service aces (227) this season.
