Volleyball Wins at Jefferson in Five Sets
Purple Knights move to 7-3 in the CACC this season (14-9 overall).
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – In a rematch of last year's CACC Championship match, the University of Bridgeport's volleyball team earned a 3-2 win (25-23, 23-25, 25-17, 25-27, 15-12) at Jefferson on Saturday. The road victory pushes the Purple Knights' record to 14-9 overall this season and 7-3 in the CACC.
Bridgeport, which also won in five sets on Tuesday against Dominican, has now won four of its last five matches. The Purple Knights sit second in the CACC standings.
UB's usual suspects were once again stellar versus the Rams. Paola Hernandez put together a 20-kill, 20-dig performance while Jaden Drollinger dished out another 54 assists.
Drollinger, who has eclipsed 50 assists on four occasions this season, also finished with a season-high 22 digs. She continues to lead the CACC in assists per set (9.94).
Hernandez, meanwhile, ranks second in the CACC in kills per set (3.61) this season.
Lucia Tomiello and Hailey Jessen were also outstanding on Saturday. The duo combined for 33 kills and Tomiello hit a team-high .359. Tomiello also led UB with 4.0 blocks.
Grace Presswood continued her terrific sophomore season with her sixth double-double of the year. She finished the match with 11 kills and 17 digs.
UB's final match-high was recorded by Ella Bowman who picked up a season-high 29 digs. She also dished out a season-best seven assists.
