Purple Knights improve to 10-6 overall this season and 3-1 in the CACC.
WILMINGTON, Del. – In the first of three road matches in five days, the University of Bridgeport's volleyball team picked up a 3-1 win (25-20, 25-14, 23-25, 25-19) at Goldey-Beacom College on Saturday. The victory puts the Purple Knights' record at 10-6 this season, including 3-1 in the CACC.
Sophomore Hailey Jessen was at the forefront of UB's second conference win this week. In fact, she put together her best match of the season.
The Colorado native finished the four sets with team-highs in both kills (18) and hitting percentage (.310). Jessen's previous season high in kills (16) came earlier this week at Adelphi.
Lucia Tomiello joined Jessen with double-digit kills (15) and a solid .258 hitting percentage. She is currently ranked fifth in the CACC this season in hitting percentage (.306).
With Tomiello and Jessen having success at the net, Jaden Drollinger was once again Bridgeport's distributor. The senior setter racked up another 49 assists as she continues to lead the conference in that category.
Drollinger, who recently surpassed 4,000 career assists, upped her average to 9.72 helpers per set this season. She also chipped in nine digs and four kills on Saturday.
The Purple Knights' team hitting percentage of .247 becomes their highest in a four-set match this season and third highest overall.
