Volleyball Defeated in Home Debut by Dominican, 3-2
The loss shifts the Purple Knights’ record to 6-4 this season (1-1, CACC).

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Playing in front of their home fans for the first time this season, the University of Bridgeport's volleyball team dropped a five-set match (25-19, 22-25, 25-20, 22-25, 17-15) to Dominican on Tuesday. The loss shifts the Purple Knights' record to 6-4 this season (1-1, CACC).
Bridgeport forced a fifth set for a second time this month but were unable to seal the deal. UB is now 1-1 in matches that have gone the distance.
Paola Hernandez and Lucia Tomiello were each terrific on Tuesday. Hernandez finished with 21 kills and 10 digs to earn her fifth double-double of the year.
Hernandez, who also hit .278 in the match, is currently ranked second in the CACC in kills per set (3.7) this season.
Tomiello was equally as impressive against the Bears. The Italian hit a team-high .556 with a season-best 15 kills. She also added six digs.
Tomiello has made just two errors across her last 15 sets of action. She is currently ranked third in the CACC in hitting percentage (.358) this season.
Bridgeport's offense once again went through Jaden Drollinger as the main distributor. The Arizona native tied a career high with 58 assists across the five sets. She also chipped in 12 digs and three services aces.
Drollinger currently leads the CACC in aces per set (0.65) this season. Collectively, UB rattled off a season high in aces with 13.
Grace Presswood (14) and Hailey Jessen (12) joined Hernandez and Tomiello with double-digit kills in the match. Presswood also matched Drollinger's 12 digs as a team best.

The Purple Knights will play three matches at AIC this weekend. They will begin with contests against Saint Michael's and SNHU on Friday.
