Volleyball Flies by Franklin Pierce, 3-1
Purple Knights improve their record to 6-3 this season (1-0, CACC).
RINDGE, N.H. – Playing against Franklin Pierce for the second time in eight days, this time a true road match, the University of Bridgeport's volleyball team picked up a 3-1 triumph (25-18, 22-25, 25-23, 25-20) over the Ravens on Saturday afternoon. The victory pushes the Purple Knights' record to 6-3 this season (1-0, CACC).
Bridgeport, which needed five sets to beat FPU earlier this month, were more efficient this time around. The Purple Knights are now 4-1 in matches against NE10 schools this season.
It was another balanced effort from the road squad on Saturday. Coach Mullin's squad had six different players combine for their 53 total kills.
Jaden Drollinger dished out assists on 40 of those kills as she continues to lead the NE10 in assists per set (9.37) this season.
Drollinger also chipped nine digs, five kills and a pair of service aces.
For the seventh time this season, Paola Hernandez either tied for the team lead or led the Purple Knights in kills. She finished with 14 while Grace Presswood (12) and Hailey Jessen (10) also put forth double-digit efforts.
Lucia Tomiello nearly reached double figures with nine kills. She ranked second on the team with a .286 hitting percentage.
Defensively speaking, it was Kenyce Johnson once again piloting UB in digs. She logged a team-high 19 of them while five other Purple Knights finished with at least six in the match.
On the serves front, Ella Young hammered a team-high three aces while UB totaled 10 as a team.
