BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Fueled by their largest scoring output since last season, the University of Bridgeport's women's soccer team earned a 6-1 win over Goldey-Beacom College on Saturday. The victory improves the Purple Knights' record to 1-2-2 this season (1-1, CACC).
Bridgeport struck early-and-often during their long-awaited home debut. The Purple Knights evenly distributed the goals with three tallies in the first and three in the second.
Brooke Boucher put the home squad on the board with each of the first two tallies. She notched her sixth career goal in the eighth minute and followed with another tally in the 15th minute.
Both of Boucher's goals were aided by freshmen as Lily Rodriguez and Luiza Macedo each recorded their first career assists.
UB's final tally before halftime came from Leigh-Ann Ramsay, who one-touched in a great pass from Angelina LoFranco. LoFranco, who has led Bridgeport in assists each of the last two years, now has 18 in her career.
Macedo followed up her assist in the first half with a goal in the 52nd minute that added to the UB lead, 4-0. Boucher repaid the favor from earlier in the game to register her first assist of the season.
LoFranco also supplemented an assist from the first half with a goal in the 55th minute. Fellow captain Tatianna Lizarraga recorded the assist on the play.
Bridgeport's onslaught was capped off by a penalty kick in the 73rd minute. Sophomore Pia-Laura Wisnewski took the honors and buried her first career goal, and UB's sixth of the game.
On the defensive side of things, sophomore Angelina Griva didn't allow a single goal across 66:31 of regulation. Fellow sophomore Antia Lopez also saw action in net.
Bridgeport finished the game with a 19-4 advantage in shots on goal.
