Bridgeport is now 13-3-5 overall and Chestnut Hill closes out its strong 2022 campaign with a 9-6-5 record.
On Saturday, the Purple Knights got off to a dream start, scoring both their goals within the first 12 minutes of action. Junior Leigh-Ann Ramsay (Bronx, N.Y.) scored her third game-winning goal of the season and tenth overall in 2022 just 4:11 into play when she finished a lovely cross from CACC Championship Most Valuable Player, freshman Solune Moll (Bern, Switzerland).
Moll would then get into the goal scoring column herself at the 11:59 mark when she wrapped up the scoring in the match with a long blast that slipped past the Griffins' goalkeeper for her third goal of the year.
Sunday's win by the Purple Knights gives the team a 17-match unbeaten streak (12 wins and five ties) that equals the school record unbeaten streak set in 2015, when Bridgeport posted a school-record 21 wins and advanced to the NCAA Division II Semifinals for the first time in program history. Bridgeport won the 2018 NCAA Division II National Championship with a 1-0 win over Grand Valley State University in Pittsburgh, Pa.
UB outshot Chestnut Hill, 18-11, on Sunday and finished with a slight 2-1 edge in corner kicks.
Bridgeport goalkeeper Clara Karlsson (So., Örnsköldsvik, Sweden) posted up her ninth shutout of the year making two saves on the afternoon, and she remains unbeaten so far in 2022 with a 13-0-5 season mark.
Along with Solune Moll being named tournament MVP, four other Purple Knights joined her on the 2022 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Soccer Championship All-Tournament Team in junior Vivien Ruettgers (Munich, Germany) plus sophomores Clara Karlsson, Angelina LoFranco (Greenacres, Fla.) and Olivia Pousette (Halmstad, Sweden).
