Purple Knights Top CACC Regular Season Women's Soccer Table With A 2-0 Win At Holy Family
UB Now Has Won Six In A Row And Purple Knights Are Unbeaten In Last 13 Outings
Philadelphia, Pa.-The University of Bridgeport women's soccer team wrapped up the top seed in this year's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship Tournament and captured the CACC regular season title with a 2-0 road win over the host Holy Family University Tigers in Philadelphia, Pa. on Saturday afternoon. UB finishes its first CACC regular season with a 10-0-2 record, and the Purple Knights are now 11-3-3 overall. Saturday's victory runs the Purple Knights' winning streak to six matches, and the team is unbeaten in its last 13 outings with 10 wins and three draws. Holy Family is now 4-5-7 overall and 4-2-5 in the CACC.
Junior Leigh-Ann Ramsay (Bronx, N.Y.) got the Purple Knights on the scoreboard quickly on Saturday when she put home goal number eight of 2022 off a helper from freshman Solune Moll (Bern, Switzerland) just 6:37 into the match.
UB would double its lead to 2-0 and wrap up the scoring on the afternoon when sophomore Kate Thill
(Goetzingen, Luxembourg) netted her team-best fourteenth goal of the season off an assist from Ramsay to give Leigh-Ann a three-point day in the 57th minute.
Bridgeport outshot Holy Family, 21-6. In the match, and finished with a slim 4-3 edge in corner kicks.
Bridgeport sophomore goalkeeper Clara Karlsson (Örnsköldsvik, Sweden) picked up her seventh clean sheet of the season on Saturday, as she stopped her fourth penalty kick of 2022 to keep the Tigers off the scoreboard in the second half in the 59th minute.
Up next, the UB women's soccer team closes out its 2022 regular season schedule with a home Senior Night non-conference match against regionally-ranked Franklin Pierce University on Wednesday evening at Knights Field. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m.
