Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's soccer team ran its unbeaten streak to eight matches (five wins and three draws) and stayed undefeated in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play at 5-0-2 with a convincing 6-1 home win over the visiting Bloomfield College Bears on a soggy Wednesday evening at Knights Field. UB is now 6-3-3 overall, and BC slips to 1-6-4 overall and 0-5-2 in the CACC.
Five different UB players netted goals on Wednesday led by junior Samantha St. Pierre (Granby, Conn.), who finished with a five-point nights, scoring her first two goals of the season and adding an assist.
Freshman Solune Moll (Bern Switzerland) had a three-point night with a goal and assist.
Bridgeport's other goals came from sophomore Felicia Svensson (Molndal, Sweden), who opened the scoring in the match with her first goal of the season in the 26th minute, plus classmate Kate Thill (Goetzingen, Luxembourg), who put home her team-high ninth marker of the season and junior Leigh-Ann Ramsay (Bronx, N.Y.) headed in her fifth goal of 2022.
Juniors Zahra Ouannass (Quincy, Mass.) and Vivien Ruettgers (Munich, Germany) also added assists for the winners.
UB goalkeeper Clara Karlsson (So., Örnsköldsvik, Sweden) stayed unbeaten this season with a 6-0-3 record, as she made two saves.
Bridgeport outshot Bloomfield, 21-5, in the match, and finished with a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Up next, the UB women's soccer team will host the Wildcats of Wilmington (Del.) University on Saturday afternoon at Knights Field. Match time is set for 3:00 p.m.
