Women's Soccer Now 8-1-0 Overall After 3-0 Home Win Over Georgian Court
Purple Knights Return To ECC Play On Saturday At Molloy
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's soccer team scored three goals in the first 32:53 of play, as the team ran its winning streak to eight matches with a 3-0 home, non-conference blanking of the Georgian Court University Lions on Wednesday night. UB is now 8-1-0 on the season. The loss drops GU to 5-2-1 overall in 2013.
Sophomore Gabby Reis (West Haven, Conn.) got the scoring started for the Purple Knights when she tallied her first goal of 2013 at the 5:07 mark.
Junior Danielle Puddefoot (Slough, England) gave UB a 2-0 exactly two minutes after Reis' marker with her fourth goal of the season off an assist from sophomore Flo Gamby (Goffs Oak, England).
Gamby would also assist on her team's final goal of the evening at the 32:53 of the first half when she sent a beautiful cross to freshman Amanda Moura (Belo Horizante, Brazil) who netted her first goal of 2013.
Senior Julia Hansson (Tocksfors, Sweden) and sophomore Jackie Fonseca (West Harrison, N.Y.) shared the clean sheet in the Bridgeport net, as the Purple Knights registered their sixth shutout of the season.
UB dominated the flow of play on Wednesday oushooting the Lions, 16-5.
The Bridgeport women's soccer team is back in action on Saturday, as the team returns to conference play at Molloy College. Action is slated to begin at 2:00 p.m.
