Late Goal By Katie Stanley Lifts UB Women's Soccer To 2-1 ECC Road Win Over Dowling
Purple Knights Now 10-3-1 Overall And 4-1-1 In Conference Play.
Brookhaven, N.Y.-Junior Katie Stanley (Oxon, England) scored her sixth goal of the season with 4:43 to play in regulation to lift the University of Bridgeport women's soccer team to an important 2-1 East Coast Conference road win over the Dowling College Golden Lions on Saturday afternoon. The victory raises the Purple Knights' ECC mark to 4-1-1, and UB is now 10-3-1 overall. Dowling falls to 7-6-1 overall and 2-3-0 in conference play.
Along with her game-winning tally, Stanley assisted on UB's first goal of the game at the 24:08 mark when she played a cross into sophomore Asia Pulse (New Haven, Conn.), who headed home the afternoon's first score.
Dowling evened things at 1-1 with a score in the 55th minute to set up Stanley's heroics.
Freshman goalkeeper Julia Hansson (Tocksfors, Sweden) was strong in net for the Purple Knights making eight saves to lift her season record to 7-1-0.
Bridgeport is back in action on Tuesday night at home when the team hosts a non-conference contest versus Caldwell College. Action gets underway at Knights Field at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening.
