Women's Lacrosse Ousted by Wilmington in CACC First Round
Purple Knights finish 2025 with 7-10 overall record (4-5 CACC).
WILMINGTON, Del. – Playing in the first round of the CACC Tournament for the third straight year, the sixth-seeded University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team dropped a 23-16 contest at third-seeded Wilmington on Saturday afternoon.
A pair of 8-3 quarters in the first and third ultimately doomed UB against the higher-seeded Wildcats. After going down by five goals to end the first quarter, the Purple Knights trimmed to edge to just 11-9 at halftime.
Bridgeport closed the gap even further after Elizabeth Pitts scored the opening tally of the third quarter. Wilmington went on to score the next three goals while going on an 8-2 spurt that put them ahead 19-12 after 45 minutes.
Individually speaking, Tara Dimaio closed out her junior campaign in fabulous fashion. The Long Islander poured in six goals to go along with five ground balls and four caused turnovers—all of which served as team bests.
Dimaio finishes the season with team highs in goals (52), ground balls (54) and caused turnovers (42).
Graduate student Tereza Kreuzova was also superb in her final collegiate game. The Czech Republic native ranked second on the squad with four goals. She finishes the year with a career-high 45 tallies.
