Women's Lacrosse Earns Convincing Win at Post, 17-6
Six different Purple Knights score multiple goals.
WATERBURY, Conn. – Playing a third conference game in a seven-day span, the University of Bridgeport's women's lacrosse team earned a 17-6 victory at Post University on Tuesday afternoon. The win pushes the Purple Knights' record to 6-8 this season, including a 3-4 mark in the CACC.
Bridgeport, which scored the first three goals of the game, led wire-to-wire against the Eagles. The Purple Knights were ahead 7-2 halftime before extending the edge to 13-5 after three quarters.
Six different multi-goal scorers sparked the UB attack, including a season-high four tallies from junior Emily Stuart. She also added three draw controls.
Max McDermott and Tereza Kreuzova each joined in with hat tricks in the win while Elizabeth Pitts, Cassidy Dalton and Samantha Targonski all beat the Post keeper twice.
Pitts, Dalton and McDermott also all dished out two assists apiece. Pitts continues to lead the Purple Knights in helpers this season (23) while McDermott has the most points (59) on Bridgeport.
Targonski, meanwhile, racked up a team-high seven draw controls while Pitts maneuvered a team-best three caused turnovers.
Bridgeport's dominance on Tuesday was underlined by an 18-8 advantage in draw controls and a 29-16 edge in shots-on-goal.
UB's goalkeeper Jackie Mellia picked up win No. 29 in her career. She finished with double-digit stops (10) for the 32nd time in her career.
