Women's Lacrosse Charges Past Chestnut Hill, 20-11
Purple Knights close the game on a 10-2 run.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – In the first of two home games this weekend, the University of Bridgeport's women's lacrosse team earned a 20-11 win over Chestnut Hill College on Friday night. The decisive triumph improves the Purple Knights' record to 5-5 overall this season and 2-2 in the CACC.
Bridgeport's fifth victory of the year was underlined by a dominant finish to the contest. After Chestnut Hill trimmed the UB lead to just one goal early in the second half, the Purple Knights rattled off a 10-2 run over the final 25:17 of regulation.
A career afternoon from Max McDermott led UB's individual efforts. The Guilford native piled up 11 points on a game-high eight goals to go along with three assists.
McDermott continues a sensational campaign that now has her with a team-high 49 points on 34 goals and 15 assists.
Junior Tara Dimaio was also superb for the home squad. The Long Island native poured in six more goals after putting eight in on Monday against AIC.
Dimaio also finished with team highs in caused turnovers (5), ground balls (7) and draw controls (5). Dimaio's CTs and GBs both matched season bests.
Dimaio currently leads the CACC in both caused turnovers (2.7) and ground balls (3.9) per game this season.
UB's offense was also fueled by a hat trick from Tereza Kreuzova who has now posted multiple tallies in seven contests this season. She ranks third on the team this season in points (30).
Elizabeth Pitts also finished with multiple points in the win as she tallied four assists to go along with one goal. Pitts has dished out 14 helpers over her last four games.
Bridgeport's collective numbers in the game featured 17 caused turnovers, 18 ground balls and 17 draw controls.
