Dimaio Scores Eight in Women's Lacrosse's Win at AIC
Purple Knights end the half on a 7-0 run.
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Sparked by a 7-0 run to the close the first half, the University of Bridgeport's women's lacrosse team rattled off a 19-11 win at AIC on Monday night. The win improves the Purple Knights' overall record to 4-5 this season.
After scoring the game's first three goals, UB turned a 4-3 lead into an 11-4 advantage by halftime. The Purple Knights were able to stretch that into a game-high nine-goal lead early in the fourth quarter.
Tara Dimaio led the way for the road squad with a performance to remember. The junior poured in a career-high eight goals in addition to grabbing a team-high six draw controls.
Dimaio's eight tallies served as the second most in a game in the CACC this season and the most by a Purple Knight since 2023. She also eclipsed 100 career goals on Monday and currently has 107 during her terrific tenure.
After Dimaio, it was a pair of four-goal efforts that aided UB's offense. Max McDermott and Samantha Targonski each found the back of the net four times.
Targonski also added five draw controls. McDermott, meanwhile, continues to lead the Purple Knights in points this season (38).
Tereza Kreuzova, Elizabeth Pitts, and Cassidy Dalton all joined in on the Bridgeport attack with a goal apiece on Monday.
On the other side of the ball, senior goalkeeper Jackie Mellia was excellent. The team captain registered a season-high 15 stops en route to her 27th career win.
