Tough Second Half Dooms Women's Lacrosse in Setback to Franklin Pierce
Purple Knights move their record to 2-3 this season.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Playing at home for the second straight game, the University of Bridgeport's women's lacrosse team suffered a 17-11 setback to Franklin Pierce on Wednesday. The loss shifts the Purple Knights' record to 2-3 this season (1-0, CACC).
Tied 8-8 at halftime, it was a tough second half that hurt the Purple Knights against Franklin Pierce.
The Ravens tallied the first five goals of the second half before posting another 4-0 spurt to open the fourth quarter.
Individually speaking, Tara Dimaio and Tereza Kreuzova led UB with matching stat lines of three goals and one assist.
Dimaio also contributed team bests in caused turnovers (4) and ground balls (4) to go along with five draw controls.
Dimaio is currently tied for first in the CACC this season with 15 total caused turnovers.
Max McDermott also performed well on Wednesday with two goals and an assist while Samantha Targonski and Emily Stuart both added one of each.
Stuart served as UB's team leader in draw controls with a career-high seven.
Elizabeth Pitts also found the back of the net, recording UB's first tally of the game.
Collectively, Bridgeport turned the ball over a season-low 10 times and grabbed a season-high 17 draw controls.
