MARIETTA, Ga. – Playing their second game of a spring break trip to Georgia, the University of Bridgeport's women's lacrosse team dropped an 11-9 decision at Life University on Thursday night. The loss shifts the Purple Knights' record to 1-2 this year.
In a matchup that featured seven ties and eight lead changes, it was a Life goal with 2:33 left that broke a 9-9 draw and served as the game-winner. The Running Eagles then added one final insurance tally at the 1:02 mark.
Offensively, Max McDermott tallied a team-best three goals while Tereza Kreuzova and Tara Dimaio added two tallies apiece.
Cassidy Dalton and Emily Stuart also found the back of the net for the Purple Knights.
Genevieve Fayo, meanwhile, led UB in ground balls with five while Samantha Targonski racked up a team-high three draw controls.
On the defensive side of the ball, Dimaio recorded a team-high four caused turnovers while goalkeeper Jackie Mellia finished with nine saves.
Mellia currently ranks fourth in the CACC in stops per game (9.0) this season.
