Women's Lacrosse Defeated at Wilmington in CACC First Round, 18-7
Purple Knights finish 2024 with a record of 10-6.
NEWARK, Del. – Playing in the postseason for a second straight year, the University of Bridgeport's women's lacrosse team lost to Wilmington in the first round of the CACC Playoffs on Monday. The Purple Knights were defeated by a score of 18-7 and finish the season with a record of 10-6 (most wins since 2015).
The fourth-seeded Wildcats scored the first 10 goals of the game and led by as many as 14 tallies in the fourth quarter.
It was a balanced attack for UB on Monday with six different scorers. Danielle Kreitler led the way with a pair of goals while Max McDermott, Elizabeth Pitts, Megan Kreitler, Tara Dimaio, and Tereza Kreuzova each found the back of the net once.
Dimaio was all over the field for the visitors. She finished with team-highs in both caused turnovers (4) and ground balls (3). Dimaio wraps up a sensational 2024 season with 46 caused turnovers—which is three more than any other player in the CACC.
Emily Stuart, meanwhile, led the Purple Knights with two assists. Dimaio and McDermott also notched helpers in the game.
UB's goalkeeper Jacklyn Mellia finished the game with 10 stops. She finishes the year ranked first in the CACC in total saves (149). She also exceeded 400 career saves in the game on Monday.
