Women's Lacrosse Falls to Jefferson, 19-9

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – In their final home game of the season, the University of Bridgeport's women's lacrosse team was defeated by Jefferson on Saturday by a score of 19-9. The loss moves the Purple Knights' record to 9-5 this season (4-4, CACC).
The Rams jumped out to a 4-0 advantage en route to leading UB throughout the entirety of the contest. Jefferson was up 12-5 at halftime and 15-8 through three quarters.
Bridgeport's offense was led by a pair of hat tricks from Max McDermott and Danielle Kreitler. McDermott also dished out an assist to finish with a team-high four points.
Megan Kreitler joined in with two goals of her own while Tara Dimaio put together a three-point afternoon (1G, 2A).
Dimaio also tallied one caused turnover in the game and has now broken UB's single-season record in that department. She also leads the CACC this season with 39 of them.
Defensively, Tereza Kreuzova served as UB's top performer. The senior finished with a stat line of four caused turnovers (team high), two ground balls and two draw controls.
Behind Kreuzova was Bridgeport's goalkeeper, Jacklyn Mellia, who finished with 14 stops. Mellia is currently ranked third in the CACC in both total saves (130) and save percentage (43.8) this season.
