LAKEWOOD, N.J. – Continuing a stretch of nine consecutive conference games, the University of Bridgeport's women's lacrosse team dropped a 16-12 contest at Georgian Court on Wednesday. The loss shifts the Purple Knights' record to 9-4 this season, including 4-3 in the CACC.
Up 10-9 with 4:05 left in the third quarter, Georgian Court registered a 6-1 stretch to take an insurmountable 16-10 lead with 4:46 remaining in the game.
UB was led offensively by a trio of players. Max McDermott and Megan Kreitler each tallied a team-high three goals while Emily Stuart recorded a team-best four total points. Stuart finished with two goals and two assists.
Tara Dimaio chipped in two goals of her own while Danielle Kreitler and Tereza Kreuzova each found the back of the net once. Kreitler also dished out a pair of assists.
Defensively, junior goalkeeper Jacklyn Mellia finished the game with 10 stops. She currently ranks third in the CACC in both total saves (116) and save percentage (43.9) this season.
Draw controls played a large part in the outcome as the Lions posted a 27-5 advantage in that category.
