Women's Lacrosse Dominates STAC to Improve to 5-1
UB led 6-0 after the first quarter and 10-0 at halftime.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – In their final non-conference game of the season, the University of Bridgeport's women's lacrosse team picked up a 14-5 win over Saint Thomas Aquinas College on Saturday. The victory puts the Purple Knights' record at 5-1 this season.
It was a dominant effort from the jump for UB as they built up a 6-0 lead after one quarter before holding a 10-0 edge at halftime. From there, the Purple Knights were in cruise control.
Graduate student Danielle Kreitler paced the Bridgeport offense with a team-high eight points. She finished the contest with five goals and three assists.
Sophomore Tara Dimaio was equally impressive with another five points (2G, 3A) of her own. She continues to lead UB this season in both goals (21) and assists (10).
As far as the rest of the Bridgeport attack, Megan Kreitler added two tallies while five Purple Knights found the back of the net once. In fact, UB's eight different goal-scorers are the most in a game since March 22 of last year.
Defensively, Dimaio and Tereza Kreuzova each racked up five caused turnovers while Jacklyn Mellia finished with 12 saves in net.
Dimaio also led the Purple Knights with five draw controls and six ground balls. She currently leads the CACC with 26 ground balls this season.
