BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Propelled by a dominant first quarter, the University of Bridgeport's women's lacrosse team registered a 20-10 win over Saint Michael's College on Saturday. The decisive victory pushes the Purple Knights' record to 4-1 this season.
Bridgeport set the tone early and often on Saturday, putting the first six goals on the board. They would then score the first three goals of the second quarter to go up 10-2.
The Purple Knights cruised through the second half, taking leads of 14-4 and 19-8 en route to the 20-10 triumph.
Individually, it was a career-best performance from Tara Dimaio that led the way. The Long Island native finished with 10 points off seven goals and three assists. She is now UB's leading scorer this season with 19 tallies and six helpers.
The Kreitler sisters were also terrific for the Purple and White. Megan Kreitler poured in six goals while Danielle Kreitler posted three tallies and four assists (team high).
Sophomore Emily Stuart served as UB's fourth multi-goal scorer with a pair of tallies. She also dished out an assist to finish with three points.
Senior midfielder Tereza Kreuzova chipped in three points as well courtesy of two assists and a goal.
In net, Jacklyn Mellia picked up her fourth win of the season. The junior registered 10 saves in a complete-game effort.
