Bridgeport, Conn.-Senior Megan Kreitler (Shelton, Conn.) fired home seven goals on the day, but it was not enough for the University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team on Saturday, as the Purple Knights fell in a high-scoring East Coast Conference contest to the visiting St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartans, 18-14. UB is now 5-3 overall in 2022 and 0-2 in the ECC. STAC moves to 3-4 on the season and 1-0 in conference play.
Along with Kreitler's seven tallies, the Purple Knights got four goals from Andrea Basilicato (Grad. Guilford, Conn.) and single goals from Addison Plume (Sr., Glen Arm, Md.), Tereza Kreuzova (Jr., Prague, Czech Republic) and Shyla Murray (Grad., Brentwood, N.Y.).
Danielle Cajou and Micaela Ross led the Spartnas with five goals each.
UB freshman goalkeeper Jacklyn Mellia (Nanuet, N.Y.) made 10 saves in the contest; while STAC's Colleen Stevens had 18 stops for the winners.
The two teams combined for 81 shots in the game with the Spartans taking 41 to UB's 40.
Up next, the Bridgeport women's lacrosse team will host Post University next Saturday for Senior Day. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. at Knights Field.
