Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team opened its 2022 East Coast Conference schedule on Saturday afternoon at home against the number 17-ranked Roberts Wesleyan College Redhawks, and RWC defeated UB, 23-4, using an offensive attack that saw 10 different players find the back of the net. UB is now 5-2 overall and 0-1 in conference play. The Redhawks move to 4-2 overall and are 1-0 in the ECC.
Graduate student Shyla Murray (Brentwood, N.Y.) had two goals on the afternoon to lead Bridgeport, and those two scores now give her a team-high total of 22 goals so far in 2022.
Senior Jessica Kinser (Voorhees, N.J.) and junior Tereza Kreuzova (Prague, Czech Republic) also scored for the Purple Knights.
Kreuzova and senior Danielle Kreitler (Shelton, N.Y.) each had five draw controls and the day for UB, as the teams tied in that category at 15 apiece.
UB freshman goalie Jacklyn Mellia (Nanuet, N.Y,) made five saves on the day, as she faced 32 Redhawks' shots.
Up next, the UB women's lacrosse team continues its homestand next Saturday when the Purple Knights host St. Thomas Aquinas College in an ECC matchup.
