Gymnastics Starts 2025 Campaign at Cornell on Sunday
Purple Knights gear up for 11 regular-season meets, including four home competitions.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – With the spring semester to officially begin on campus next week, the University of Bridgeport's gymnastics team will starts its 2025 campaign on Sunday in Ithaca, N.Y. The Purple Knights will be facing off against the Cornell Big Red and the Yale Bulldogs in a tri-meet, beginning at Noon.

LAST YEAR
The Purple Knights finished with a team NQS of 193.720 during the 2023-24 season. One of the big highlights from last year was achieving a team score of 195.025 during a home quad meet on March 3 which served as UB's highest mark since 2019.
All in all, Bridgeport Gymnastics surpassed a score of 193.000 during seven meets last year. That is compared to just twice the year prior.
UB's 2024 season as a team concluded with an eighth-place finish at the 2024 Gymnastics East Conference (GEC) Championship (held at Yale). Bridgeport posted a mark of 193.500 which was a 0.7-point improvement from 2023.
Individually speaking, Bridgeport's 2024 campaign concluded with 10 Purple Knights qualifying as individuals for the 2024 USAG Collegiate National Championship.

THE 2025 ROSTER
Bridgeport will be one of the more experienced teams in the region this season. In fact, UB returns a total of 23 student-athletes from 2023-24 which includes a group of six that earned All-GEC honors.
Bridgeport's newest roster also features a total of 20 upperclassmen and a pair of WCGA All-Americans and USAG All-Americans in juniors Lola Sepulveda and Abigail Kenney.
In addition to a large returning cast, a group of five have joined UB gymnastics this year. They are comprised of freshmen Lena Coxon, Nicole Pujals, Hanna Saylor, and Rae Solis along with junior Samantha Krenzel.
THE CAPTAINS
For a second straight season, the trio of Kenney, Olivia Imbarlina and Brooklyn Weingardt will serve as team captains.

PRESEASON POLL
The Purple Knights were picked to finish sixth in the GEC according to the preseason coaches poll released in December. Penn, which won the GEC last year, was selected as the conference favorites for the fourth straight year.
