Purple Knights Close Out A Full Weekend Of Gymnastics With Alumni Day Tri-Met Win Over Southern Conn. State And Brown
Bridgeport Totals 193.650 To Top The Owls And Bears
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team wrapped up a busy weekend of action taking first place on Sunday afternoon in the team's third meet in three days. The Purple Knights captured Sunday's Alumni Day, tri-meet with a team total of 193.650 to best second place Southern Connecticut State (192.800) and third place Brown University (192.250).
As a team, Bridgeport scored 48.250 on the vault, 48.575 on the bars, 48.900 on the beam and 47.925 in the floor exercise.
Sophomore Julianna Roland (Lumberton, N.J.) returned to her winning ways in the all-around on Sunday posting an event-best total of 39.175 for the four events. Roland took tied for first place on the balance beam on Sunday with a score of 9.900 (career best), and she took second in the floor exercise behind teammate Maya Reimers (Sr., New York, N.Y.) in the floor exercise with a score of 9.850. Reimers took the top spot in the floor exercise with an impressive 9.925, which tied a career high.
Junior Gabrielle Kistner (Raleigh, N.C.) took first place in the vault on Sunday with a score on 9.725, and Roland tied for second in that event with a score of 9.700. Kistner also competed in Sunday's all-around turning in a total of 37.050.
For the second straight afternoon, UB junior Kathryn Doran (Oakville, Ontario, Canada) took the top spot on the bars on with a score of 9.825, and sophomore Hayley Bangart (Castle Rock, Colo.) grabbed fourth place for UB with a score of 9.775.
Up next, the UB women's gymnastics team will close out its 2020 home schedule with a Senior Night dual meet next Saturday at 6:30 p.m. when Rhode Island College comes to the Wheeler Recreation Center.
