Purple Knights Post Senior Night Women's Gymnastics Dual Meet Win Over Cornell, 194.750-190.225
UB Takes At Least First And Second Place In All Four Events
Bridgeport, Conn.-It was a happy Senior Night for the University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team on Saturday night, as the Purple Knights posted a 194.750-190.225 dual meet win over Cornell University in Wheeler Recreation Center.
On Saturday, UB posted a 49.000 on the bars, a 48.975 on the vault, a 48.775 in the floor exercise and a 48.00 on the balance beam, and the Purple Knights had at least the top two finishers in each of the four events.
Junior Maya Reimers (New York, N.Y.) took first on the balance beam with a score of 9.850 and first in the floor exercise at 9.825.
On the beam sophomore Kathryn Doran (Oakville, Ontario, Canada) was second at 9.750, and in the floor exercise, Kelly Aycock (Locust Grove, Ga.) took second at 9.800.
On the bars, Bridgeport took first through fifth places led by graduate student Kelli Tereshko (Madison, Indiana) and senior Thomara Powell-Brown (Rocky Hill, Conn.), who tied for first place at 9.825.
UB went one-two-three on the vault, as sophomore Gabrielle Kistner (Raleigh, N.C.) took first place (9.900), freshmen Julianna Roland (Lumberton, N.J.) grabbed second (9.875) and classmate Crystal Gwinn (New Port Richey, Fla.) finished third with a score of 9.800.
Roland won Saturday's all-around with a score of 38.725 in the four events.
Up next, the UB women's gymnastics team will travel to Southern Connecticut State on Saturday, March 16.
