ORANGEBURG, N.Y – Beginning the final three-game stretch of the regular season, the University of Bridgeport's women's basketball team dropped a CACC matchup at first-place Dominican on Sunday afternoon. The Purple Knights were defeated by the Chargers, 72-36.
It was a balanced offensive effort for UB as they had eight different players make a field goal and 10 different players tally at least one point.
Ana Gascon posted the strongest stat line courtesy of 10 rebounds, two blocks and a steal. She also chipped in four points and an assist.
Gascon, who is now Bridgeport's top rebounder this season, ranks fifth in the CACC in boards per contest (7.6). She is also slotted fifth in the conference in steals per game (2.0).
Mackenzie Creighton and Niyah Whitten each finished with a team-high six points on Sunday while Kaleigh Valle and Skylar Parris knocked in UB's two three-pointers off the bench.
Shakira Hester tallied one block against the Chargers. She is currently tied for second in the CACC in blocks per game (1.2).
