Women's Basketball Clipped at Queens, 59-42
Purple Knights' final game until 2025.
QUEENS, N.Y. – Playing in their final game of the year 2024, the University of Bridgeport's women's basketball team was defeated at Queens College on Saturday by a score of 59-42.
For the second straight contest, it was a tough final quarter that doomed the Purple Knights. UB trailed by just five points, both at halftime and after three quarters of play.
Queens was able to ultimately close the door in the fourth quarter courtesy of a game-ending 16-5 run. All in all, the Knights outscored UB by 12 points across the final 10 minutes of play.
The away squad was led by Harmony Earth-Wiley who recorded 12 points, three steals and two blocks—all of which were team highs. She also finished with four rebounds.
Speaking of rebounding, freshman Zahkiyyah Frazier piloted UB with a career-high 10 boards. She now has 19 rebounds over UB's last two games.
After Earth-Wiley, who finished 5-for-11 from the field, it was numerous Purple Knights chipping in offensively. Ciera Cevallos totaled seven points while Niyah Whitten and Adalise Carabello each registered six.
Bridgeport's team offensive numbers consisted of a 16-of-53 effort (30.2%) from the field, including a 5-for-18 clip (27.8%) from three-point range.
