Women's Basketball Falls at Post in Regular-Season Finale, 63-53

WATERBURY, Conn. – In the final game of the 2024 regular season, the University of Bridgeport's women's basketball team was defeated at Post on Saturday by a score of 63-53.
The Purple Knights will be the No. 4 seed in the upcoming CACC Tournament after tallying a conference record of 8-8. Bridgeport will play at top-seeded Jefferson on Tuesday night.
A trio of double-figure scorers highlighted UB's offense on Saturday, while the starting five accounted for all but two of their 53 points.
Niyah Whitten led the attack with a team-best 14 points as she knocked in a season-high four three-pointers. She also chipped in four rebounds, an assist, and a block.
Shakira Hester followed with 12 points while Tariah Bryant put in 11. Hester and Bryant each added six rebounds as well.
Stephanie McBride also grabbed six boards to go along with eight points, three assists, a block, and a steal.
As a team, the Purple Knights shot 18-of-53 (34%) from the field and seven-for-26 from long range. Post outscored UB, 30-2, in bench points.
UP NEXT
The Purple Knights will meet third-ranked Jefferson for the second time this season. The Rams enter the postseason with a 27-1 record.
