Three Reach Double-Digit Scoring But UB Women Defeated At New York Tech
Host Bears Top The Purple Knights, 65-57
Old Westbury, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team gave one of the East Coast Conference's top teams in the New York Tech Bears all they could handle on the Bears' home court, but the Purple Knights could only connect one field in the fourth quarter, as the host team defeated UB, 65-57. Bridgeport is now 5-20 overall and 3-10 in conference play. New York Tech, winners of five in a row, are now 16-9 overall and 9-4 in the ECC.
The Purple Knights trailed by one point, 37-36, at the half, and were down by four points, 56-52, after three quarters, but the Bears outscored UB, 9-5, during the final ten minutes to secure the victory.
Senior Jaqualah Holliman (Boston, Mass.) led the Purple Knights in scoring on Wednesday night with 11 points, and she was joined in double figures by freshman Gracen Kerr (Ansonia, Conn.) and junior Samirah Henderson (Rahway, N.J.), who each netted 10 points. Kerr led the team with five assists in the game, and Henderson grabbed a team-leading seven rebounds.
Ketsia Athias led three New York Tech Players in double figures with a game-high 19 points.
Up next, the UB women's basketball team plays its final road game of the regular season traveling to Molloy College on Saturday. Game time in Rockville Centre, N.Y. is set for 12 noon.
