Tough First Quarter Too Much To Overcome For UB Women's Hoops In Loss At Molloy
Purple Knight Battle All Night Long But Cannot Overcome 19-6 Deficit After Opening Stanza
Rockville Centre, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team could not overcome a slow start on Wednesday evening, as the Purple Knights trailed the host Molloy College Lions, 19-6, after the first quarter, on their way to 53-48 East Coast Conference setback. After the first quarter, the Purple Knights fought back and limited the hosts to only 14 points in the second half, but UB could never take the lead after the tough beginning to the contest. Bridgeport is now 5-12 overall and 2-5 in conference play. Molloy is now 7-9 overall and 2-4 in the ECC.
Senior Sofia Ermeidou (Athens, Greece) led UB in scoring on Wednesday netting 18 points off the bench, as she hit 5-of-10 three-point shots.
Sophomore Kadijah Dickson (Queens, N.Y.) played a strong game at Molloy falling just shy of a double-double 13 points and none rebounds.
Senior Morgen Caution (Baltimore, Md.) grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds for the Purple Knights.
The UB women's basketball team is back in action at home on Saturday afternoon when they host Queens (N.Y.) College in an East Coast Conference tilt. Tip-off in Hubbell Gym is set for 1:00 p.m.
