MELBOURNE, Fla. – On the penultimate day of their spring break trip to Florida, the University of Bridgeport's softball team (7-5) split a pair of games on Friday. The Purple Knights defeated SNHU, 5-2, before falling to Florida Tech by a score of 8-2.
GAME ONE – Bridgeport 5, SNHU 2
The Purple Knights jumped all over SNHU with a trio of two-out runs in the top of the first inning.
McKenzie Morgan hammered a two-run double prior to Samantha Ledger registering an RBI single. Morgan also doubled in the sixth.
Madison D'Amato scored the opening tally after leading off the game with a single. She also hit a bunt single in the seventh.
Paityn Thibodeaux knocked in UB's final two runs in the seventh on the Purple Knights' fourth double of the game.
With a 3-0 lead at her back, graduate pitcher Kaite Burawski registered another superb outing in her sixth start of the season. She allowed the two runs on just five hits with four strikeouts.
Burawski lowers her ERA to just 1.97 across 42.2 innings this season with 48 Ks.
GAME TWO – Florida Tech 8, Bridgeport 2
Florida Tech's triumph was highlighted by runs in five different innings and 12 total hits.
The Purple Knights' attack, meanwhile, featured their first home run of the season. Angela Oros launched her eighth career UB long ball in the second inning.
Jadyn Prievo put Bridgeport's second run across in the fourth courtesy of an RBI single that scored Sydnee Perreault, who also singled in the inning.

The Purple Knights will wrap up their Florida trip on Saturday with games against Ursuline (10 a.m.) and Gannon (12:15 p.m.).
