SAINT LEO, Fla. – Facing a second nationally ranked opponent during their trip to Florida, the University of Bridgeport's softball team dropped a pair of games at No. 20 Saint Leo on Tuesday night.
Game One – No. 20 Saint Leo 2, Bridgeport 1 (10 Innings)
Despite the loss, it was another terrific performance from senior pitcher Kaite Burawski. Amazingly, the left-hander did not allow an earned run across 9.1 innings of action. She finished with eight strikeouts while yielding just seven hits.
Burawski is now boasting a 1.25 ERA across 22.1 innings with 31 strikeouts.
Bridgeport's lone run came in the second inning courtesy of an RBI single from Grace Derita.
UB's offense in the first game also featured doubles from Sydnee Perreault and Angela Oros. Oros finished 2-for-4 in the contest and has now registered multiple hits in four straight games.
Game Two – No. 20 Saint Leo 8, Bridgeport 4
The Lions' offense featured five runs in the first inning and three in the sixth. Half of Saint Leo's runs were unearned in the second game.
Oros was once again UB's top performer at the plate, finishing with three more hits and three RBIs. She knocked in one with an RBI double in the first before plating two more with a single in the second.
On the other side of the ball, freshman Olivia Young allowed three earned runs in 5.1 innings pitched.
