Softball's Zarate Named CACC Pitcher of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Following a pair of strong performances in Florida, sophomore Vise Zarate of the University of Bridgeport's softball team has been named the CACC Pitcher of the Week. Additionally, senior Angela Oros was selected to the conference's weekly honor roll.

Zarate opened her season in style over the weekend, posting solid outings against third-ranked Tampa and Polk State. She was especially impressive against the nationally ranked Spartans when she allowed just two runs across six innings of work.

Zarate followed that up by allowing just one earned run across 4.2 innings versus Polk State. All in all, the right-hander posted a 1.97 ERA in 10.2 innings pitched last week. She finished with a 1-1 record while tallying nine strikeouts.

The University of Bridgeport's softball team will return to action on Tuesday when they visit No. 20 Saint Leo.
