Sparkill, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport softball team split an East Coast Conference doubleheader for the second straight day on Sunday, as UB won game one at St, Thomas Aquinas, 4-0, and fell in the nightcap, 8-4. With the split, Bridgeport is now 23-7 overall and 8-4 in the ECC. STAC moves to 16-12 overall and 7-3 in the ECC.
In the opener, sophomore Kaira Ramon (Stamford, Conn.) knocked in two of her team's four runs, plus senior Jenna DiLorenzo (Woodbridge, Conn.) and junior Allsion Luzzi (East Haven, Conn.), each had two hits and an RBI.
Graduate student Amanda Staheli (Pecatonic, Ill.) was dominant again in the pitching circle, as she earned win number 12 of the season firing a four-hit, complete game shutout with three strikeouts and no walks.
In game two, Ramon crushed her second home run of 2019, and sophomore Elyssa Marmolejo (Rialto, Calif.) had two hits.
Up next, the UB softball team is scheduled to host Dominican (N.Y.) College in a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon. First pitch in Seaside Park is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
