Clermont, Fla.-A day off in the Sunshine State on Sunday did not cool off the red-hot University of Bridgeport softball team, as the Purple Knights picked up two more wins on Monday to raise their season record to 7-1, as UB topped Lake Erie College, 8-0 in five innings and then defeated LeMoyne, 3-1.
In Monday's first game, sophomore Miranda Hillman (Placentia, Calif.) pitched a one-hit complete game shutout recording five strikeouts.
On offense against Lake Erie, junior Allison Luzzi (East Haven, Conn.) celebrated her birthday by smashing a home run. Senior Jenna DiLorenzo (Woodbridge, Conn.) had a two-RBI double, and classmate Kamryn Beach (Tampa. Fla.) and sophomore Kaira Ramon (Stamford, Conn.) also knocked in runs.
In the LeMoyne, graduate student Amanda Staheli (Pecatonica, Illinois) remained undefeated in the pitching circle at 4-0, as she worked a complete game two-hitter, and senior Stephanie Dean (Old Lyme, Conn.) powered the Purple Knights' offense with two doubles and a pair of runs batted in.
