UB Softball Swept In Home Opener By Bloomfield
Purple Knights Open ECC Play At Molloy On Tuesday
Stratford, Conn.-The Bloomfield College Deacons proved to be unruly guests on Monday afternoon as they swept the University of Bridgeport softball team in the Purple Knights' 2012 home opener at DeLuca Field in Stratford, Connecticut. The Deacons won game one, 9-2, and scored in every inning to post a 10-1 win in five innings to complete the sweep in the nightcap. Bloomfield is now 13-6 overall. Bridgeport falls to 5-6 overall.
In game one, freshman Jade Blair (West Deptford, N.J.) had two hits and senior Emma Wojcik (Warsaw, Poland) had two doubles and knocked in both UB runs.
In game two, freshman Morgan Dunn (Cohoes, N.Y.) had Bridgeport's lone RBI.
The Purple Knights will look to get back in the win column and snap a four-game losing streak on Tuesday afternoon when they open East Coast Conference play at Molloy College.
