Cross Country Squads Compete at Vassar's Ron Stonitsch Invitational
Both programs put together ninth-place finishes.
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Competing for a second straight weekend, the University of Bridgeport's cross country teams took to the course at Vassar's Ron Stonitsch Invitational on Saturday. The Purple Knights' men and women both finished in ninth place.
Women's Recap
A trio of debuts highlighted UB on the women's side. Freshman Julianna Frankenfield, junior Julia Fortune and freshman Aubrey Cindia all ran for the Purple Knights for the first time.
Frankenfield led the way with a 53rd-place finish. She crossed the finish line in a time of 22:58.1. Fortune tallied an 80th-place effort (26:29.2) while Cindia posted a finish of 103rd (34:57.5).
Stephanie Lickteig competed for a second straight weekend and served as UB's second finisher. The rookie posted a time of 24:59.4 to place 69th of 107 runners.
A pair of sophomores also crossed the finish line for Bridgeport. Lynzie Lawton placed 101st (32:13.8) while Samantha Rodriguez finished in 104th (35:48.4).
Men's Recap
For the second straight meet, freshman Edoardo Vandelli piloted the UB scoring on the men's side. The Italy native finished in a team-best 29th place with a time of 21:08.2.
Also, for the second consecutive meet, it was sophomore Matt Torres finishing second for UB. The Stamford, Conn. native placed 62nd with a mark of 24:24.7.
Bridgeport's final three scorers on Saturday were Kyle Hill, John Panzera, and Denzel Luna. Hill placed 70th (26:10.7), Panzera in 89th (29:14.8), Luna in 92nd (30:29.2).
