XC Teams Wrap Up Regular Season At Adelphi Short Course Meet

Bethpage, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport cross country teams took part in their final meet of the season before next Sunday's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship Meet hosted by Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pa. on Friday afternoon, as the Purple Knights ran in the Adelphi University Short Course Event (both races were 5K) at the Bethpage Polo Grounds on Long Island.  The UB women had their finest day of the 2022 season finishing in 8th place out of 19 teams, as all seven athletes turned in either season or personal best times.  The men finished the event in 19th place.

For the women, senior Alexandra Toth (Sandy Hook, Conn.) was the Purple Knights top finisher covering the course in personal best time by over one minute of 21:08.20, which put her in 28th place on the day.  The time is also a three minute improvement over her season-opening time in September over the same course.  The Purple Knights next finisher was newcomer Emily Chase (Fr., Wallingford, Conn.), who turn in a time of 22:16.30, in her first collegiate race which put her in the 39th spot.

Freshman Luke Downes (Clarkrange, Tenn.) was the top finisher for the Bridgeport men as he posted a time of 22:15.80.
